Restoring Shine And Color

To Your Home's Exterior

Gutters play a crucial role in keeping your home safe from water damage by directing water away from your roof and foundation. However, over time, gutters can become discolored and dingy due to exposure to the elements such as dirt, debris, and harsh weather conditions. This can not only make your home look unattractive, but it can also lead to further damage if not addressed properly.

While Superpower Wash’s basic house wash will remove the surface dirt and grime from your gutters, it won’t fix the discoloration that most gutters accumulate from the elements and exposure to the sun. The good news is that there’s a solution to restore your gutter’s original shine and color: gutter brightening.

What is

Gutter Brightening?

Gutter brightening and gutter cleaning are two services that are commonly confused for each other. While gutter cleaning involves removing the debris that builds up inside the gutters, gutter brightening focuses on the cosmetic exterior shine and color of the gutters. This process is meant to restore the shiny new gutter look, without the hassle of buying and installing new gutters.

Gutter brightening is a process that involves cleaning and restoring the exterior surface of gutters. Gutter brightening uses specialized equipment and chemical detergents to safely clean and restore gutters to their original shine. This process involves going deeper than a regular pressure wash to ensure that all dirt and debris are removed from the surface of the gutters. Gutter brightening not only improves the appearance of the gutters, it also helps to prolong their lifespan by removing harmful substances that can cause damage over time.

Superpower Wash 4-Step

Gutter Brightening Process

Superpower Wash’s 4 step gutter brightening method is a highly effective process that cleans gutters deeper than the surface.

  1. Clean gutters with basic house wash solution: The first step in the process is to clean the gutters with a basic house wash solution. This helps to remove any loose debris, dust, or dirt that may have accumulated on the gutters. This step is important because it prepares the gutters for the more intensive cleaning that follows.
  2. Pressure wash all surface dirt and grime away: Next, your skilled pressure washing technician will pressure wash all surface dirt and grime away from the gutters. By using a high-pressure stream of water, the tech can effectively blast away dirt and grime, leaving most well maintained gutters perfectly clean. After these steps, if the gutters still have streaks of dark color, they will require the actual gutter brightening procedures to be properly cleaned.
  3. Apply the Gutter Brightening detergent: After pressure washing, the team will verify whether the client wants their gutters brightened or not. Once they get the go-ahead, they will first apply the Gutter Brightening detergent. This specialized solution is designed to remove any stains or discoloration on the gutters. The detergent works by breaking down and lifting the dirt and grime from the surface of the gutters, leaving them looking brighter and cleaner.
  4. Scrub the gutters, and then rinse: Finally, the team will scrub the gutters and then rinse them thoroughly to remove any remaining traces of detergent or leftover staining. Scrubbing helps to ensure that all the dirt and grime has been lifted off the surface of the gutters, while rinsing helps to remove any excess detergent that may be left behind.

Gutter Brightening FAQ's

No, our gutter brightening service only focuses on the exterior surface of your gutters. Gutter cleaning is not a service we currently offer, so any gutter services by us will be to restore the shine and color of your gutters.

No, our cleaning solution is safe and won’t remove paint from your gutters. A problem we often run into though, is that sometimes cleaning older gutters can reveal that paint has already been stripped off of them due to the elements or age. Every so often, when we go to brighten the gutters, removal of the dirt and grime can reveal bare metal underneath, which is not something we can fix or prevent as there is no paint left in the first place.

This can vary depending on your location, weather conditions, and other factors. Most of the discoloration can come from exposure to sunlight, run-off from your roof, and foliage cover around your home. If your gutters don’t get very dirty every year, most of the time a standard house wash will be enough to keep your gutters bright and shiny. If they get dirty every year, a gutter brightening may be needed with every other house wash.

Depending on how quickly your gutters accumulate discoloration, we recommend getting your gutters brightened every 2-4 years to maintain their shine and color. Though this really depends on how much the homeowner cares about the shine and discoloration.
